What does it mean, โ€œื ืฉื ืืคื•ื“ ื‘ื“โ€? There can be only one ื›ื”ืŸ ื’ื“ื•ืœ, and that is ืื—ื™ืžืœืš. One answer is that of the Targum:

Misplaced Mercy

What led Saul to even think of committing such an atrocity? The wording of the massacre calls to mind an earlier massacre:
